I love my kids so very much..truly
My two year old little man is super cute, full of fun, goofiness, snuggles and love
My daughter, although a challenge at times (who isn't), has a heart full of love and warmth, is quirky, full of joy and just wants to spend time with her mommy and daddy still...something I take for granted way too often.
I get exasperated with my kids, and have to remind myself of the above posts
Fall is my favorite season of all
Life is full of seasons
Our life is starting a new season right now and I love it
I forgot how much I love "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips until I watched "Bridesmaids" tonight.
Speaking of Bridesmaids, I found it depressing and not worthy of recommendation.
God is good, even when I forget He is there
I'm not sure one could find more devoted and loving parents than the ones I have. They are such blessings.
If anybody ever coordinates a Flash Mob...I so want to do it!!
I really want grayish blue walls for our living room
People will let you down in life...it's not about people...it's about God and him working through us
Watching my daughter's soccer games is one of my favorite activities ever
Reuniting with old good friends is awesome
Some day, my husband and I WILL go on a real vacation...where we fly far away, stay in a hotel of luxury, sip cocktails on a tropical beach, and where I will be a size 10 for it.
Even if that someday doesn't happen, I am blessed. But...I really, really want that someday trip. ;)

The Words I Would Say...
Sometimes, a song comes along and it just takes you by storm. God has always used music to touch my life, to speak to me, to move me to tears. I would love to have words to say how I feel, to convey my emotions perfectly, but I rarely am able to be that person.
Just like most moms, I love my children more than words. You could not convince or ever really convey to your children how much you love them, until perhaps they have kids of their own.
Raising kids is HARD. Truly hard. Not just oh..I had a tough day, tomorrow will be better...but sometimes, you go through a valley of doubt and despair. You wonder if things will ever get better, if your child will listen AND obey the simplest of commands after being told a gazillion and one times already. You stop and wonder where in the world that child of pure joy and grace went and who has replaced them as they glare you down, roll their eyes, look at you with ice. Sigh. I was one of those moms that swore it would never happen. But, we are there and fighting it with all we've got. I will admit, we have failed numerous times, as God fearing and God loving parents, to raise our children up in the Lord. I am the worst of sinners and realize that the ugliness I see in my kids...is really me. GASP. It's a brutal, ugly...hard truth.
So, the constant exhaustion of all the battles is hard. But, maybe..even more difficult is seeing your very ugly self come to life in your small precious children. It's motivation to get on your knees and cry out to Jesus. I'm done trying to do this without prayer..which sadly, I am very good at forgetting to do at the start of my day. I am done ignoring the comfort of MY Father who is there for me...to guide me, give me wisdom, and help me through my dry, tired times.
Because I've been, and still am an ugly mom and definitely lost that infamous MOTY award (Mother of the Year) from oh...about day 2 of momhood, I treasure this song. If I could write just how I feel about my daughter and what I want her to know...it's in this song. I want her to know that no matter what...God has his hand on her. No matter how much I mess up, or her dad, or her friends let her down, or anybody else in life...she has God. And knowing that God is the most, the best and all she really needs is so important to me. I want her to desire God above all else. That is a constant prayer in my life..that my children would truly DESIRE God.
I haven't blogged for awhile, but this song "The Words I Would Say" by Sidewalk Prophts, really has hit me and wanted to share. Just tonight, I sat down with my daughter and told her about how this song is one that reminds me of all the things I feel about her. We listened together, me crying (I always cry..ask my family...major crier here). She realized what I was trying to convey, came over to me, gave me the most amazing hug and told me how much she loves me. She got it. I thank God for my kids. I also thank God for his everlasting love and faithfulness, for me...a sinner...a mom. Thankful that his mercies are indeed, new every morning.

Meeska! Mooska! Craigy is TWO!
Well…not quite yet. Officially the BIG 2 will be here Thursday. Nonetheless, we celebrated all that Craigy is and loves last Saturday. He was surrounded by ALL of his grandparents (minus 1…ok, so I guess not ALL, but so close!). Two sets of Great Grandparents (all right…one was sadly, unable to attend), and three sets of Grandparents. Such a blessed boy to have so many to love on him.
The theme was “Mouse”, as that is what Craigy calls Mickey Mouse. Totally cute. Yeah..he also loves “Buzz and Woody”, but I took advantage of the cute factor of Mickey Mouse before he was too old for it.
I cannot tell you how much I love this little man. He is so stinking adorable, and so much fun. He is thoughtful, kind and helpful. Always, always running to help me unload the dishwasher or dryer. More than willing to run and “do” whatever chore I’ve requested him of, usually with a huge, happy, loud “OKAY!!”. He is a snugglebug too with mommy. He says “bless you” after every sneeze, AND cough..including his own. Will, on his own…THANK me for dinner after he is done with his plate!
There you have it…a glimpse of Craigy. Happy Birthday little man!!

Great
Just recently, we were able to visit with both sets of GG's...always so nice to see them! I really love that both sets of my grandparents are also Saiah and Craig's. They are wonderful, dear people to me and I'm so glad that they know them and have relationships with them. I have such wonderful memories growing up with my Grandparents.

10, 9, 8....Fieldtrip!
We decided to end our fun fieldtrip by detouring over to the Yogurt Hut..yum. A great little place where you get to serve yourself and choose from 10 different yogurts, and about 500 million toppings. You pay by the ounce...which is great, unless you have a kiddo that likes to load her yogurt with gummy bears, gummy worms, and anything else gummyish. They aren't the lightest toppings. Silly girl.

My Squishybug, squished.

I was cleaning Saiah's room the other day and Craig was on her bed, hanging out...playing. All of a sudden I hear this "clunk" sound. I look, and somehow, Craig had fallen between Saiah's bed and the wall. I often call him my Squishybug..and he indeed looked squishy between the two!! He was as content as ever to sit there in that spot all crunched up, playing away with his blocks. It was quite the comical sight.

Crawling, Kisses and More
Craig has mastered the art of crawling. As we all know, gone are the days of Craig, sitting around a pile of toys, content to stay put. Two weekends ago, Jason declared that by the end of that weekend, Craig would be a crawler. Well, he was close. The week after that, Craig started actually moving forward with his rocking of all fours. This last week, he's become a speedy little mover. It's so amazing to watch him grow and learn.
On top of the crawling, Craig also learned how to pull himself up to stand with the couch. You can hear it in his voice when he's accomplished his task, as he makes all sorts of happy sounds. You just know he's completely thrilled with his new find! When you acknowledge his new feat and tell him "Craigy...look at you! You're such a big boy!", he just beams from ear to ear. It's way too cute.
Oh, and kisses! In just the last few days, Craig is giving those wonderful open mouth kisses to us. And when he really wants his mommy, out comes "Ma" or "Mum". Ahhh...melts my heart. <3
Picture to come soon..hopefully. :)

Pumpkin Hat...how cute it this?
I've pretty much convinced myself to take a beginners Crochet class through the City. Well, first, they have to get enough interest to put on a beginners class...so if anyone out there wants to learn to crochet with me...let me know! I'm hoping to learn to make some of those adorable hats for baby girls that are in all the professional pics I've been seeing. Heck..maybe I can figure out a manly enough hat for Craig to wear as well. I did find the above pumpkin hat and an acorn hat that was stinking cute..that would make an adorable fall photo in the leaves!
One of these days, I'm going to make a date with my sewing machine and hopefully become an accomplished crafty SAHM (which, is short for Stay at home mom, which now isn't short for it, since I typed it out anyways).

Baby Legs...What's your take??
Baby Legs. Baby Leg Warmers. Zootie Patootie. You know what I'm talking about. I love, love these things!! I finally broke down and bought Craig a pair a few weeks back from Mamabargains.com. I think they are stinkin cute and a great thing to have for when he's crawling all over the place.
Imagine my surprise (ok, not really), when Jason put his foot down on Craigy's new attire. No way. What?! But, they're so cute! Nope..he looks silly...like a girl. He won't be going out with those on!! Then, I get the feeling Saiah thinks they are pretty dorky as well. And then, I get the same feeling that my Mom isn't sure what to think about them either.
So...my question to those who read...all two of you: What's your take on Baby Legs? Yay or neigh? :)

Let's Go Fly a Kite
The wind was blowing, so we decided to pack up and go down to the field at the school nearby our house to give Jason's fancy dancy new trick kite a whirl. For sure there would be enough wind. Um, no. Sadly, the kite has still yet to soar in the wind. One of these days we'll get it up. We enjoyed kicking around the soccer ball and enjoying the cool breeze nonetheless.

Saiah and Craig in PJs
"Mama, take a picture of us!". I couldn't resist. Saiah wanted a picture of her and Craig in their PJ's and she loved that Craig was cheek to cheek with her. Sweet moments.

One stubborn tooth
I truly don't remember ever having a problem losing my teeth. I found most all of my loose teeth quite fun. How fun to use your tongue to push the tooth around. Better yet, was when it was so loose, you could actually get your tongue to go into the whole! What a fun, weird sensation that was. If I remember correctly, I was never one to shoot the gun and try yanking out teeth before they were truly ready to come out. Mostly, I'd play with it and when it was truly at the point where it was ready to come out, I'd give it a few good twists and out it came. Twisting was always the key!
Saiah's first two teeth were pretty normal (you may remember a video I posted of Jason giving it a good yank to loosen the roots and Saiah's priceless reaction). Other than a Dad helping it to get loose, they came out fairly easy.
Not so much with her first top tooth. I don't know, maybe it's because this tooth had a history with Saiah. Back when Scooter was 3 years-old, she was doing some silly dance with both feet in one of my slippers. Well, she apparently lost her footing during a jump, couldn't get the landing down with both feet in my slipper, and proceeded to crash to the ground, hitting her mouth/teeth on our wooden bedframe on the way down. Blood everywhere and a front tooth that was now at an obscure angle, pushing backwards. Oh yes. Fun times. From that day on, it's always been a bit loose, off color, and well, just unique.
I should not have been surprised that Stubborn Tooth, which shall be named ST from here on out, would want to go out in big fashion as well. Picture a pretty, sunny day and Saiah is out playing on her "new" swingset. Wait, she's playing on the slide that is not yet attached to her said swingset. Next thing I know, in she comes hurt. Apparently, she was walking up the slide, lost her footing (gee, sounds familiar), and hit her face on the slide, mouth first, which in turned, knocked her already loose tooth very loose. Did I mention ST has been truly a "loose" tooth for about 5 months now. So...I deem that yep, that tooth is really ready to come out now. Saiah then proceeds to attempt for two hours to get ST out. ST is loose, yet it is hurting her terribly. Just touching it caused a lot of pain for poor Saiah. It's so sad to hear your 7 year old, crying while sitting on the counter, praying for God to please let this tooth come out!! She worked hard, yet it wasn't coming out. Throughout the day, she'd go back and give it a try to no avail.
Next day, brought more attempts. She was able to pop a few more roots. I felt so bad that she was in such agony and I knew that I had to get it out for her. So...I told her I was going to check it and try to get it out. I grabbed some TP to hold on to the slippery thing and gave it a good hard pull. Feeling that it was going to take more than a yank, I had to just keep tugging and pulling. After about three or four tugs, Voila! It was out!! Yay!! I'm pretty sure Saiah was shocked that Mommy pulled out her tooth, but she was super pleased about it as well. I'm hoping it was just because it was ST, and that the other top teeth won't follow it's path.

Blackberry Goodness

Last week, we headed over to our nice neighbor, Larry's yard to pick some very scrumptious blackberries. I tell you, it was the nicest, most enjoyable blackberry picking we've ever experienced!! He has it all trimmed so the berries just cascade over the top of his fence. We picked for less than an hour and went away with three huge bowlfuls. I still think Saiah may have eaten more berries than she picked! Craig enjoyed the time sitting and playing on a blanket. Homemade cobblers and syrup for waffles was made with our abundance of the sweet berry. I have always loved how easy it is to find and pick blackberries here in Oregon.
I do believe we are headed back over soon, as I'm ready to try my hand at Blackberry Jam. Oh yum!

An adoring sister
As I sit here, I can hear Saiah singing and talking to her brother. One of her lines is "I wish I could marry you, oh I wish I could marry you!". I find this so sweet. Awhile back she had asked if she could marry Craig. We of course talked about the proper rules of marriage. Nonetheless, it speaks volumes as to how much Saiah loves and adores her brother.
